15th August - TRAVELLING BACK IN TIME

Dear bloggers,

Yesterday was a very special day for our Dickens crew, since we all travelled back in time!! But we will get to that later; let's start from the beginning.

The first thing we did in the morning, after breakfast, was to meet up so that students could present their magazines to us. Every group showed us what they had been working on; they are definitely on the right path, but we gave them some useful suggestions to make the magazines even catchier and more appealing to the readers.

When we were done discussing about the digital magazines, we took the bus to the library, where students wrote their blog entry and updated their diary. After lunch, we gathered again in the library and told the students the plot of the play we were going to attend to make sure they would have no problems understanding it.

Considering we would have to come back to town for our special evening activity, we decided to go home earlier than usual and have dinner at English time, after playing our favourite game together!

When looking for the theatre venue, the magnificent Trinity College — one of the wealthiest institutions in the UK —, we entered through the wrong gate, so we got to see the beautiful college for free! Finally, having asked a student, we were able to find the correct place: the gorgeous fellow gardens of the college, access to which is normally even denied to Trinity students!

As you may have imagined by now, our special evening event was a Shakespeare performance: A Midsummer Night's Dream, which as a time machine, took us back to the ancient Greece. Not only that; following the original story, the actors spoke in Old English, so our students have even more credit for understanding the play! According to their feedback, everyone had a great time and found the play really funny and enjoyable! Definitely, an experience to remember!

Once the performance was over, we ran to the supermarket to buy some groceries trying not to miss the last bus in the process! Like a record in the famous Guiness book, we made it in 5 minutes and we arrived at the bus stop perfectly on time to even wait for the bus!

It had been a long and exciting day, so everyone was happy to go to bed!
